Just as an FYI for Saturday. Station Road is currently closed in both directions at the junction of Warfield Road.

This is till the 2nd September for water works. 111 and 216 are diverted down the Upper Sunbury Road and not stopping down Station Road. Nearest stops will be Thames Street from Kingston and Percy Road from Kingston/Sunbury.

Car access is only from the High Street end of Station Road.

Jules may have a selection problem if Revan is still injured and Campbell is suspended. Left back might be covered by Alfie Williams?
Hopefully we can get our first win of the season.

New signing in the squad for today, Renedi Masampu, a left back. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renedi_Masampu

Great first win for Alan Julian in a closely contested game. After a slow start we switched to three at the back to match them in midfield and as the half wore on we got on top and had plenty of chances but didn’t hit the target. Salisbury pressed us higher in the second half and we struggled to create the same number of chances. Curd made a couple of good saves and probably Salisbury looked more likely to find the net. However, Wall came on late on and charged down the keeper’s clearance which landed nicely in the back of the net. It was a tough 15 minutes to see out the game as we were clearly tiring. Limited options from the bench despite the new signing but we held on and deserved the points. Good going forward today but too many efforts off target. Ironically the one goal was a rebound but you make your own luck.

Hardly played a game in the last few years. Wonder what the story is?

Good win today, agree with much of what Tony said. We will have to be more clinical, but what I will say, is that we are a lot more exiciting to watch. Another booking for Julian, something he needs to keep in order.

I do like our team. They try to play football.

Salisbury came and tried to press us along the back but we didn’t panic and adapted well, which was good to see.

We’re a good pass and move team when we stay close to each other. However, in the second half, for a time we stopped doing that, we got a bit stretched, played longer passes. That’s when we looked a little static. Although we got it back later in the second half. I’m impressed with Josh. He progresses the ball well, and most of those nice passing routines go through him.

I have to stay Jack and Jerry at the back seem to be growing in confidence. Although I do think our back line falls back to the 18-yard line a bit too quickly.

I do like what Alan Julian is trying to do. A more modern approach than last year.

And was I seeing things, or did Robbo rip his shirt in frustration in the first half?

In the first half they started the stronger but as time went on-we looked more threatening and had several efforts that could have resulted in a goal.Second half again we slowly then started to get more into the game .Again we had some near misses but it was starting to look like a goalless draw until Wall on as a substitute charged down their keepers clearance and the ball ended up in the net. Our visitors pressed for an equaliser but we held out.
Thought the defence played well and we switched to a back three to match them up in midfield. For most of the team they are still getting to know each other but there are some encouraging signs. Atkinson gave a solid holding role in midfield, whilst Wiltshire looked composed on the ball and formed a good defence line with both Taylor’s.
How we fair against a stronger team we are yet to see. First three points of the season!

Yes, he did. Played on with it ripped until half time, where he replaced it with a blank shirt.

I think it was ripped in a tussle with a Salisbury defender.
