Two goals from debutant, Culley, eased the Beavers into the 3rd Round of the League Cup. Early chances went begging and it was the visitors who struck first in the 27th minute, Jared Small converting a David Cowley cross. In the 37th minute a disputed free-kick was hit exquisitely past keeper Ed Thompson. Four minutes into the second half and Cullet got a very fortunate second goal. A loose ball in the box flew into his path, striking his shin and rolling in – luck, or being in the right place, it still counted. Small had a chance to get his second but hit his shot straight at Smith. Hampton scored twice more, both from substitutes. In the 79th minute Federico found space on the left and hit a curling shot into the top right-hand corner. In stoppage time Federico could have had a second but blasted the ball over the crossbar. The miss mattered little as just before the final whistle Harris scored a simple goal from six yards out.

Now, I could have said that I was testing to see if anyone was reading these reports! Nah..can't get away with that one. Yes George Wells. Seems as if when I see Wells I think..Dean. Having said that, Dean's son, Joe is playing for the Academy, so we might see another 'Wells' in the future, who knows? As regards Oualia, who never actually made an appearance despite being on the bench 11 times, for some reason I recorded him as Zaid from the very start (I'll blame Dowse for that one.... lost in translation)...have gone back and changed my records.Adam wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 10:39 pm Surely in 2014 it wasn’t Dean Wells. Maybe George Wells? Also I think the keeper on the bench was Zaki Oualah not Zaid.
