Molesey didn’t help themselves when Wayne Noad got himself sent off (allegedly telling Referee Mr Atkin, that he was a ‘muppet’). One wonders what their Director of Football, Nevill Southall, thought about it. Hampton took full advantage in the second half with three goals in a fifteen-minute spell. In the 59th minute Omonua crossed for O’Connor to drive the ball in from ten yards out. A few minutes later, Omonua provided the second goal, his high cross found Morley who buried the ball in the back of the net. The third Hampton goal came from nowhere, a grasscutter from O’Connor that suddenly bounced up and over Adrian Creamer. Molesey did score late on, when Mark Frampton turned in Marcus Rose’s cross at the far post.
Separated just by the width of the River Thames, 2003/04 was the last time, to date, that these two old sparring partners have met.
