THOSE WERE THE DAYS
4th February 2006
Isthmian (Ryman) League Premier Division

HRBFC 3 (Yaku 2, Olayinka) Chelmsford City 0 Att; 357

HRBFC;-
Matt Lovett; Graham Harper, Ade Olayinka (Marcello Fernandes, 3/67’), Brian Connor, Rob Paris, Dean Wells, Alan Inns, Elliott Godfrey (Jon Henry-Hayden, 8/88’), Lawrence Yaku, Francis Quarm (Barrie Matthews, 78’), Kelvin McIntosh.
Unused Subs; Ben Abbey, Dudley Gardner

This game was won in midfield, Hampton benefiting from the return to fitness of Quarm. Striker, Yaku, was also back to his best. In the away fixture Chelmsford had come back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3, but this time there was no repeat performance. In the 3rd minute Yaku raced on to a through ball from Quarm to lob keeper Gavin King. Another sweeping move in the 18th minute led to Hampton’s second goal. A Harper cross from the right split the visitors defence and loanee Olayinka turned the ball in at the far post, with Yaku in close attendance. Hampton’s midfield of Quarm, Inns and McIntosh prevented Chelmsford getting a foothold. The second half was a repeat of the first, the only surprise being that it took so long for a third goal. Five minutes from time Referee Laver got a bit too close to the action, caught between two players he ended up doing a backwards somersault ending up with Inns on top of him. Order was restored a few minutes later when Yaku linked up with Henry-Hayden for a tap in at the far post.
