Can't fault the effort but never really looked like scoring. Chesham ugly to watch and play against, strong, ike a tackle and smash it long. Not a very good spectacle. Archie played well out of position as he is all right foot. Makes it all the more surprising we got rid of Campbell.

As many have said, a pretty awful game, with an equally poor attendance and atmosphere to go with it. A few of us try, but it’s beginning to feel like an impossible task.

One of the poorest games of the season, we conceded a penalty in the first few minutes. Personally though we should have been given a free kick immediately before. We looked unbalanced in the first half with a right footed player at left back. Moving Williams there after the break did help the balance. Second half a lot of pressure but we never looked like scoring. In fact the visitors looked the more likely to do that. With his suspension over, Wall might come in to give a light weight attack some focus.
We have an away game at bottom Aveley on Saturday, defeat there and with visits to other relegation favourites might start to give us some worry?

How did the ref miss the shove before subsequently awarding the penalty ? Thought he had a poor game. I agree plenty of pressure in second half but too often we are putting (admittedly decent looking) balls into the box without really having the players to compete to get on the end of them.

Last night was a little bit of a non-event on and off the pitch. Poor attendance, but not entirely unexpected for a Tuesday night between 2 of the smaller sides in the league, both comfortably mid-table. 351 is our 3rd worst of the season, which is very much down on last season. Merrick had a very good game in between the sticks, and without him it could've been 3/4. Would absolutely be happy to finish where we are, and would've bitten your hand off for a dull run-in with nothing on the line. Jules and Ben both contempt with the overall season as well. Aveley rolled over last night away at St Albans, and they are all but mathematically condemned in my opinion, so is a good game to win. We were poor yesterday, and didn't look like scoring, but there are runs like this in football, we had a good one, and now on a more difficult one, but with plenty of opportunities to come to put it right!

I have spoken to the brothers (owners) and they strongly refute all of the negative comments regarding the size of the crowd and the atmosphere.

Stefano said that the attendance was 300% greater than the Middlesex charity cup game vs Uxbridge on 18th Feb 1984 (Les can verify this) and also that everyone who did attend last night had a far better fan experience than 41years ago!

What a load of ********

Happy to supply verification for any queries etc

Point 1...Club did not play in Middx Charity Cup, as far as I can tell
Point 2...On 18th February 1984 we were away to Farnborough Town in a league game (lost 3-0), by the way, it was a Saturday.
Point 3...No crowd figures were published during 1983/84 apart from one game, v Maidstone United, 14th January 1984, F A Trophy 1st Round, 500 (assume an approx figure) - also a Saturday!

BTW I doubt that anyone has spoken to Stefano.....wind-up?

I suspect Cliffp had his tongue very much in his cheek (rather than in any part of the Chuckle Brother's anatomy) when he made his post!
