Barnet, freshly relegated from the Nationwide League, struggled to make any headway against the Beavers. The previous season, Barnet had knocked the club out of the F A Cup and to a certain extent there was an element of revenge in this victory – even if it was only a friendly. O’Connor side-footed home in the 5th minute, courtesy of Maskell’s lay-off. A few minutes later Maskell headed in cross from the left. Manuella made it 3-0 with a close-range header following a corner. In the 28th minute McKenzie’s punched clearance set up the next goal, Maskell found Warren Williams who provided Alleyne with a pass to make it 4-0. Barnet’s best player, Mark Taylor was substituted off at half time. Ten minutes from time, Thompson nipped behind the Barnet defence to lob substitute goalkeeper, Millard, 5-0 done and dusted.
