...are up and appear to be working. Wandered into the ground this afternoon to have a look and some of them were on.
BTW be prepared, if you pop into the ground, to be requested to leave immediately, as I was. Don't think that this is club policy but whoever it is (baseball cap/beard) seems to have the attitude 'get off my land'. Lacks a little customer service training. If I was looking to come back as a volunteer this chap would definitely put me off. He did not know who I was - could have been another possible investor/ father of a player etc. Back in the day (sorry!) we looked upon a visitor to the ground as someone who might be a paying supporter next game, bringing family and children along. Nice to see you, come back again soon. Ah, well.;next time I'll make an appointment.
Floodlights.....

Yes, the blighter’s been there all summer I think. I had a wander in a couple of times - once at the invitation of Alistair Bruce - just to have a nose around and this chap, rather aggressively I thought, told me to go forth. I complied of course; one must do all one can to propitiate the gods of Health & Safety but I agree with Les that it’s rather a shame that the old place is not so welcoming as it once was.

Absolutely this. I'd also add that in the past it was possible for people to call in if they were passing and see how the pitch was doing, for example, if they were so interested. You might bump into Robbie Brownett or one of the other old familiar faces wandering around and have a quick chat. It made the club feel friendly, accessible, more of the community and a bit more homely. You can't just keep trumpeting "we're a community club" it needs to be a genuine approach. I could understand it if there were genuine health and safety issues that day, ie floodlight pylons being put up or something but for goodness sake, it's not exactly Old Trafford or the Nou Camp now is it?TW10 wrote: Thu Jul 24, 2025 7:55 am GR tourist I think you need to reread what Les wrote. There is certainly no need for this bloke to be so hostile that's for sure.
It is sad to hear about the rudeness and hopefully the club will look into this.
However, I think it has to be a no-no for fans to be walking around the stadium while complicated electrical work is being undertaken (according to Ben's last update). Fans should only be allowed in the club shop area.
Maybe the club can put up a sign to prevent fans wandering into the stadium until all work is completed safely or post on their website - this avoids accidents etc.
