Very sad news to report. Tony Carroll who played in the 60's for Hampton fc. Staines Town fc and Met police fc died yesterday. Rest in peace Tony you where a great player.

Tony joined Hampton for our first season in senior amateur football in 1959. He was by far our best player in that first season and could play centre-half or centre-forward with equal aplomb. I guess he was only about 19 then so he would have been about 85 now. RIP

Tony joined from Feltham Villa and made his debut in our first senior game against Cobham on 22/8/1959.Tony made 84 appearances and scored 36 goals - an impressive record. Tony did play for Staines and Met Police (he was a policeman..only coppers got to play for the Old Bill in those days). We could do with a player like that, right now. RIP.
