Chesham's highlights are up. I hope the Paul-Lavaly loan can be extended, he's doing a great job for us.

Great win and I for one am astonished with our start to the season. After the Sutton friendly I thought we were certainties for a relegation battle. Since then we have got two excellent loan signings in Paul-Lavaly and Tuck and of course it is early days. Keeping Rodari and Greg-cox fit will obviously be key as they both know where the back of the net is. Lets hope we keep this up!

Yes, much better start than feared. Management did recognise the shortcomings of pre season and have brought in additional players plus we managed to get Grego-Cox onto the pitch. Apart from the second half at Chesham we have had to play largely a defensive/counter attacking game where chances have been fairly few and far between so our conversion rate has been above expectations. We'll need to find a solution to the RB position longer term and any further recruitment in midfield will depend on how near Ince is to making a meaningful contribution. As we know, it sometimes takes the bigger clubs time to find their momentum but they have the financial fire power to bring in players and usually by Christmas they trend into the play off places. Gather as many points now whilst they are adjusting to the division and sorting out their squads. 10 games is usually the first checkpoint. As I look at the league really don't see any easy games. The promoted teams are doing well so far and most teams have at least one win under their belts.

It's fun looking back at previous posts on this site. My current favourite is about the benefits of a managerial change:

"Why not do it now. Then at least the new manager will have a chance to go for some players he might like to have and then be able to wield them into a team that's not down for relegation before the season even starts. Surely the fans at least deserve that!"

I can already tell who posted that. Along with the rest of the drivel he spouts, I take no notice. He’s never anywhere to be seen when we win games.

That was always a ludicrous post, but based on what we saw in pre-season, a prediction of relegation was a reasonable one a few weeks ago. The "change the manager" nonsense much less so. The way Jules recognised that things clearly weren't good enough, and then brought in some excellent additions has been very impressive.
