It has been said many times that we can't compete with the bigger full time clubs in this league. Ebbsfleet have just released a statement that they lost £2.8M in the 23/24 season when they were NLS champions. Some of this was due to a stadium development project but the loss also included an increase in their player budget of £500K. That was just the increase. Their debt increased by £5.7M which roughly speaking gives a current debt figure of £15.3M. And their reward for this investment? Relegation back to the NLS.

Ebbsfleet must be completely mad. What do they really expect? They were still nowhere big enough to properly compete with many of the clubs in that division and never would be, so what did it actually achieve? Nothing whatsoever except a load of debt and a white elephant of a stand.
I genuinely hope we never fall into this pointless trap and that if we did somehow (accidentally?😆) get promoted, then we'd realise that it was probably going to be a short stay and to budget accordingly. Yes, it would be fun to go up, of course it would, but Tuesday trips to Gateshead and Morecombe etc would soon become a pain and we could hold our heads high having enjoyed the ride. No idea how Maidenhead managed to stay up for a few years, they're not that much bigger a club than us. Can't all be down to Dev's nous and experience.

This is exactly the sort of road those charlatan brothers might have sent us down if more fools had bought into their yarn.

Well, quite. Anytime a potential buyer/owner says anything even remotely like "Premiership in 6 years" to a club like us, then it should be an immediate "thanks but no thanks and goodbye." What a dark period for the club that was. All it achieved was to annoy so many volunteers so much that they defected elsewhere.

Another great preview video. Quite a bit of effort going into these I think. I like that they include clips of recent games for both teams and previous meeting of the sides.

The new consortium says no changes to current operations but I would be surprised if that holds true for long. Presumably the Kuwaiti owners will be writing off a large chunk of their debt as part of the deal. Is the new consortium really going to throw the same amount of money at team having seen proof that such a strategy won’t work? How long before the ground is sold pending finding a new site? Ground sharing at Dartford?
