Why recall a 4-0 drubbing at home, all will be revealed later. Table-topping Bromley, including ex-Beaver Barry Moore, hardly had to raise a sweat to take the points. Bromley raced into a 3-0 lead during the first half. Hampton’s defence was prised open by Kirk Watts, in the 9th minute, and three minutes later Nic McDonnell repeated the trick. Hampton were chasing shadows as the visitors dominated the game. Bromley went 3 goals clear in the 37th minute, a corner was headed across the goal by Donal O’Sullivan and Peter Adeniyi, headed in unopposed. Hampton offered very little in the second half and it was no real surprise when Bromley’s fourth came, Tony Boot scoring at the near post, six minutes from time.
The reveal; Bromley, despite their winning the return fixture in March, come the end of the season, the Beavers were Champions, whilst Bromley finished runners-up and had to get promoted through the play-offs – just shows, one game doth not a season make.
