THOSE WERE THE DAYS
2nd October 1999

Isthmian (Ryman) League Premier Division

Boreham Wood 0 Hampton 4 (Buglione 65’ 80’, Barnsby 68’, Maskell 70’) Att; 204

Boreham Wood;-
Dave Root; Dominic Grime, Steve Magona, Andy Prutton, Terry Howard, Alan McCarthy, Andre Delisser, Adam Shafer, Ian Rutherford, Shaun Marshall, Matthew Brady.
Subs; Dave Hatchett, Nick Grime, Lee Tekell.

Hampton;-
James Courtnage; Andy Walker, Robert Longhurst (Darren Adams,55’), Peter Barnsby (Fiston Mputu,79’), Nick Burton, Jason Shaw, Craig Maskell, Dudley Gardner, Ben Forey (Julian Charles,67’), Martin Buglione, Martin Carter.

All square with over an hour gone and no hint of the explosion of goals that were going to take Boreham Wood completely out of the contest. The floodgates opened when Buglione toe-poked a cross from Adams in the 65th minute. Three minutes later it was 2-0 after Barnsby struck a low 15-yard drive into the corner of the net. In the 55th minute, despite the close attention of a defender, Adams, again, put in a perfect cross and all Maskell had to do was side-foot it home. The situation got worse for ‘the Wood’ when Shaun Marshall took out Barnsby (who often got himself sent off for something similar) and was red-carded by Referee Allen. The final goal came in the 80th minute, Buglione netting his second with a 20 yard ‘rocket’. Hampton’s first away win of the season propelled them up to 10th position (which would prove to be their highest placing of the season).
