Hampton maintained their unbeaten record with a 7-0 demolition of bottom side, Cobham. In the 15th minute Groves received a pass from Dowling and fired in from the edge of the penalty area. By half-time Hampton led 3-0. Cooper benefited from a deft flick by Whing, and then Whing scored his first. If it wasn’t for Cobham’s keeper. Lewer, the game would already have been out of sight. On the hour mark Whing was fouled in the area, Griffin scoring from the spot, 4-0. Groves played in Cooper for the fifth, in the 70th minute Whing raced on to a pass and scored from a very tight angle. The last goal came five minutes later, Groves getting on the end of a Griffin free-kick.
Despite being unbeaten, Hampton were only in 7th place (out of 16). There was however, a very good reason, as Hampton had only played eight league games but NINE cup ties. Gradually, Hampton would catch up and eventually win the league championship at the end of the season.
