Couldn't get there today. How was Kiernon? Did he look match fit? He hasn't played since last season then straight in. Good draw against i would imagine tough full time opponents.

A game not unlike Maidenhead where we had to defend all game, struggled to get anything together going forward until late in the second half. The difference was that Maidstone weren't quite as clinical and we managed to get something in the way of what attempts they had. Kiernan looked fit enough but his touch and timing was off and he came off in the second half. We managed only one shot in the first half, a good header from Grego-Cox palmed over the bar. Otherwise it was very much Maidstone dominant and Rowley much the busier of the keepers. In the second half Maidstone upped their game and a goal looked as if it was coming. We couldn't get hold of the ball and dropped very deep. However, a double substitution by both sides seemed to give us some relief and Fasanmade had possibly the best chance when put through by Deadfield, but his low shot was well saved. Midfield is still the issue where we just can't win the ball in the 50/50s or keep possession for more than a couple of passes.Having said this, a battling point will be seen as progress and with hopefully more recruits to come we will see some better results in the new year. Had Maidstone scored I'm not sure we would have come back for a point. Keeping a clean sheet is an achievement in itself against full time Maidstone and may give some confidence against Farnborough who lost 5-0 at Worthing.

Maidstone could, perhaps should, have been 2 up in the first 10 minutes but they made a mess of both chances.
After that it was all rather pedestrian, from both sides. 0-0 written all over it.
Not sure Brendan really got into the game; better to come I hope

I may be in the minority, but I thought that it was a much improved performance. The team had a structure and the players knew and kept to their positions, they looked more cohesive. The players were communicating and encouraging each other. Maidstone's team has plenty of 'big' players and appears to be built on 'National League' lines. Considering that Dowse is trying to blend in new players, there is sufficient hope for the future.

A great point against a full time side. Elokobi came across as a P-R-I-C-K at the end of the game demanding respect etc. If he wants respect then maybe his full-time outfit should get a win against a struggling part-time side.

What a superb point. Any acceptance of a result in previous weeks was firmly forgotten as we fought battled and deserved a point. A day we lined up 4-2-3-1 much more like a Dowson team of old,the Stones could've walked away as winners with better chances than ours but we threw body after body in the way, a real performance that suggest the squad is right behind Dowse and Max.

Player Ratings:
Rowley: 7/10 Despite a scare within 10 seconds, had a good game and relived pressure.
Sayers: 6/10 Really solid game at LB, covered Massey well and was never am issue.
Massey: 7/10 Did as expected, won every header, cleared each ball, won most tackles. As a fan my concern about him in a back 4 was discounted, had a great gane and will be a key part of this team.
Jackson: 8/10: MOTM. Excellent against a clever front line and a Massive Kargbo. Showed maturity beyond his years and didn't put a foot wrong. Performance to be proud of, my MOTM.
Lacey 7/10: Showed no signs of academy football and looked like he belonged. From a heavy tackle in the first half, from nicking the ball from a Maidstone front line in the second, he impressed me. Looking forward to his development.
Deadfield 7/10: Competed an awful lot, and our best chance with Fas came from a Deadfield orchestrated counter attack. I'm not his biggest fan but thought he was good today.
Gardner 5/10: A loose cannon. Massey amusingly bollcoked him, deservedly so. This is NLS football and he thinks he is better than he is. Broke up play well but kills our side, he is not a starter at this level.
Kiernan: 6/10 looked a tad rusty but will be crucial in the coming weeks, got a good reception from the fans. I'd think Brendan will be deployed wider when Max is fit to start.
Silva: 8/10 I have been critical, but thought he was excellent today. Battled hard, created chances and was a general nuisance. A lot better, hope it leads onto a strong second half.
Fasanmade: 6/10 His confidence dip I thought was still on show today. When we were in a rush to punt forward, Fas was either punting or a bit panicked. Would love him in our front 3 as he has know-how and pace. Wasn't bad but game not suited to him.
Grego-Cox: 7/10 As previously stated, has to start. Small, but knows how to win headers and fouls. Experience is invaluable at this level and he always looks like a class above. Great chance we'll saved by Harness.

In other news, the bar was much busier tonight, and Dowse is putting his stamp on early doors. We remain out of the bottom 4 even though at HT we were 22nd. Even with a point I wouldn't have minded dropping below the threshold because this was a really tough game for us and other sides will face a similar challenge. Our next 3 games are really winnable, Farnborough who were mullered, Chesham who we beat before, and Endield, must win.

Subs:
Dixon 7/10: Best game in a Beavers shirt, held up play and looked good when feeding Fas through on goal. Was involved at the scrap at the end but those full timse ******* can royally do one!
Vaughan: 6/10. I like him, without hugely impacting the game I think he is tidy. A good acquisition from the gaffer.

Dowse 7/10 - We lined up as a Dowson shape team. His additions were solid without being immediately impactful. A Bar that hasn't been so full and pleased since probably Dowse's 1st era. Subs were spot on. The players fought for him and we stand a bloody good chance if staying up!

My final view, a brilliant point, Part Time nicks a point against a Robotic Non caring Full Time side, Elokobi we will see you next year! P.S I think we will comfortably remain in this division. Canr wait to see Kretzchmar back in this side, I think he makes the difference. This season will be a fight, but a fight that today convinced me we can win.

Dowson Again Ole Ole, Viva La Beaver!

See you at Farnborough, Up those Pesky shagging Beavers!

Yep, I saw that too. He was demanding unearned respect and seemed annoyed that somebody didn't know who he was  an ego case with delusional levels of self-importance. He is a bang average manager at this level with a huge budget. A decent enough footballer in his day and being "a name" is the only reason he has the job.

Decent post match interview with Dowse on YouTube praising the battling qualities. Also sees where we were lacking in ball retention. Sounds like there may be a couple more players incoming.
