Can anyone enlighten me as to the details of the Hampton v Sheffield United game that was played, I think, as a part of the Ashley Sestanovich deal?

Here is what I have in my archive. Any help with the substitute numbers for both teams/who the subs replaced, would be appreciated!TW3 Beaver wrote: Fri Apr 03, 2026 11:25 pm Can anyone enlighten me as to the details of the Hampton v Sheffield United game that was played, I think, as a part of the Ashley Sestanovich deal?

HRBFC 2-0 Sheffield United
Les Rance
Hampton notched up their second pre-season win in four days recording a second successive 2-0 victory, this time over a squad from Nationwide Division One side Sheffield United. Captaining the Blades on their first ever visit to Beveree was ex-Beaver Ashley Sestanovich, who joined the Yorkshire side midway through last season. Alan Devonshire’s team gave an excellent performance against United’s young professionals, giving Hampton fans plenty of optimism for the season to come. For Hampton, Lee Channell fired wide form a good position in the fourth minute whilst Sestanovich went close from a free kick for the Blades. Ben Scott, in the visitor’s goal, had to very alert in coming off his line and clearing the ball from another Channell run.
Hampton were rewarded for their bright start with a goal in the 16th minute, Orlando Jeffery crashing home a shot following a corner. Sestanovich showed some nice touches but the Hampton defence, led in the first half by Jamie Jarvis, kept a tight rein on the Sheffield forwards. Billy Sharp brought out a full length save from Hampton’s keeper Adel Massoud in the 30th minute but it was the home side that showed greater aptitude in front of goal. Sestanovich was robbed by a combination of Paul Kelly and Jeffery, the ball ran kindly to Man of the Match, Dudley Gardner who seized on the chance and guided the ball wide of Scott for Hampton’s second goal. Late in the first half, Iffy Onuara held off the Hampton defence turned and shot but fired over.
Early in the second half Sharp missed narrowly with a snapshot and then Massoud beat away a fierce shot from Kevan Hurst. Hampton introduced the pacey Adrian Allen and almost immediately he set up a chance for Richard O’ Connor but the Hampton forward’s shot came back off an upright. On the hour it was Sheffield’s turn to see a goal bound shot hammer against an upright, Jonathan Forte, being the unlucky Blade. Chances went begging for both sides right up to the last seconds of the game, Allen hitting the crossbar and then Massoud blocking a shot from a narrow angle. The 600+ crowd certainly saw an entertaining game, with perhaps the Hampton contingent the happier of the two sides.
Notes
Representatives of London Broncos Rugby League club attended the fixture and offered discounted tickets for their fixture against Huddersfield the following day, upon production of the HRBFC programme at the gate. Beavers’ skipper Dudley Gardner received the Joy Indian Cuisine’s Man of the Match Award from nine-year-old Tom Bell. Tom had taken part in an exhibition match between two Under 10 Hampton Youth sides, with his team winning 3-0.

Interesting comment re. London Broncos. The current squad have recently been to games at Fulham and Wimbledon so perhaps it's time for them to return to The Bev.
