One win in the opening four games and one defeat could be described as a steady start on Hampton’s return to the Isthmian Premier Division. The home side led 1-0 at the interval, a reasonable return for the Beavers. Allen was the scorer in the 35th minute, a recipient of a four-man move involving; a Wells free-kick, determination from Gardner, a cross from Morley and a squared ball from Fontana that was sidefooted home by Allen for his first of the season. Five minutes into the second saw Hampton awarded a penalty which should have sunk the Rebels, however Fontana sent in a weak effort which Jake Whincup was able to push the ball away for safety. Slough were lifted by Whincup’s save and suddenly found their drive. On the hour, Christian Metcalfe sent in a free-kick, ultimately cleared by Jeffrey but the ball found its way back to Metcalfe to fire in the rebound. The Beavers regained the lead when Inns headed in a cross from Fernandes but it didn’t last long. The predatory Ian Hodges headed in a cross from Michael Murphy and could have won the game for Slough just before the end but his header was misdirected.
