That's very good. I seem to remember the word "thrashing" was prominent there. It is rather a long way to go to endure a result like last season's opener.

I've had enough! You've tried it on just once too often! Right! Well, don't say I hadn't warned you! God forbid AD has to use similar words in the dressing room at half time on Saturday.

Anyway, the Gulls are only mid-table, have scored two fewer than Hampton and, who knows, come 5 o'clock on Saturday HRBFC could be above them in the table...?
As for Maidstone, they've only scored three more than....
OK, it will be a tough weekend, no doubt, but do not despair, all shall be well. We hope.

Totally agree. By far my favourite bit of that scene isn't the actual "tree thrashing" part at all, it's the bit just before that where having tried to turn the key and start it numerous times he gives it a final ultimatum, "if you don't start...!" and counts to three, without turning the key! Brilliant.

I think last Saturday's game just proves that anything can happen, although Slough are a very poor side indeed and will really struggle this season if results don't change.

The majority of those Devonian predictors think we'll ship at least 3 goals and won't score. Didn't they see that Horsham only scored 2 against us?

The (43) away support prediction does look somewhat paltry compared to the 3,751 home supporters. That's about 5% of the Beveree attendance average. By that metric, we should expect to welcome 196 Gulls fans at The Beveree at the end of February.
Not sure I saw anything like 200 yellow shirts at the 2-2 draw last season. Maybe that wasn't meant to be mocking in any way ( just like the " Gulls 6, Hamsters 0 " prediction!)
If that fan's there in February, I'll give them a wide berth (protect my chips).

Clearly we are not favourites to come away with a result at Torquay but we must put in a decent performance and avoid a heavy defeat otherwise the pressure will start to mount again. Torquay's defence won't be as porous as Slough's.

They do seem a bit obsessed with opposition fans. I don't spend too much time worrying about Torquay fans, my only real view being that they think their club should be higher but seem to forget they're here on merit.

One could consider it generous, given that our last two away turnouts at Plainmoor were 19 (2025/26) and 29 (2024/25). We have had as many as 68 there in the past (2022/23). Torquay segregate the crowd and announce the away attendance figure separately so there is a good record of our travelling support there... unfortunately we just don't travel that well outside of the Home Counties.

1 1 at half time. Started ok but then gifted a goal away. Backs to the wall and almost gave Torquay another one. Responded well and Fernadez equalised with a decent header at the far post.

Torquay essentially going man for man against our back 4, if we can avoid gifting them ball then we might be able to get something as there is space to exploit.
