Maybe he should have picked a stronger team then or made changes earlier. We didn't really seem to adapt to them going down to 10.

Thought we were excellent for the first 20 mins or so, and it looked like we could pull off an unlikely win. However we decended into a rather ordinary and easy to deal with side after that. Shame.

Will very much depend on their contract status and whether Worthing go up. They might fancy playing in the NL.

On the positive side I hear Ince is hoping to be fit at the beginning of June!

Great. That should allow him plenty of time to get trials in at other clubs.

Overall, poor outside of the first 20 minutes. Needed to capitalise when they were down to 10 and failed to do so. Hopefully should get back to winning ways Saturday. Liked seeing Vaughan start though.

I wonder how much the club has wasted signing Ince.Still can't believe he was signed after hardly playing for the previous 2 seasons.Also I wonder if we will get a chairman update before the end of the season

In the National League, contract cancellation generally requires "just cause" or mutual agreement. As of the latest standard contract updates from the FA (effective July 2023), several specific grounds allow either a player or a club to terminate an employment relationship.
Reasons for a Player to Terminate
A player can typically cancel their contract if the club fails to meet its fundamental obligations. These reasons include:
Non-Payment of Wages: This is the most common reason for termination. Under FIFA's Article 14 bis (widely adopted in standard professional contracts), if a club is more than two months late with salary payments, a player can terminate for "just cause," provided they give the club a 15-day notice to rectify the debt.
Abusive Behaviour: Players may terminate if they are subjected to abusive conduct, such as being forced to train alone for an extended period without a medical reason or facing economic duress.
Sporting Just Cause: An "established professional" who has played in less than 10% of their club's official matches during a season may have grounds to terminate for sporting reasons. This must typically be done within 15 days of the last official match of the season.
Failure to Register: If a club fails to register a player for national championships or fails to obtain a necessary visa/work permit, the player generally has just cause to terminate.

Reasons for a Club to Terminate
Clubs can cancel contracts for serious breaches of discipline or long-term physical issues:
Long-Term Injury/Illness: Under 2023 contract updates, a club can terminate a player’s contract with three months’ notice if a club-instructed medic determines the player is unable to play for a period of four months due to injury or illness. Previously, termination was only allowed for "permanent incapacity".
Gross Misconduct: This includes serious breaches such as testing positive for prohibited substances (e.g., cocaine), failure to report for training for an extended period (AWOL), or participating in criminal activities.
Breach of Sporting Regulations: Engaging in activities that severely violate football or sports regulations can be grounds for immediate termination with just cause.

My understanding is that the club would utilise the the sick pay provisions to mitigate the cost if it was clear that the player was unfit long term. It seem self evident that Ince has not been fit to play for all but a couple of weeks of the season but I have no idea what period of time sick pay regulations have been invoked.By my reckoning he seems to have played no more than half a dozen games in three seasons.

It's a real grey area Tony.
A player may say they are fit, meanwhile a club may feel they aren't.
Who can determine it, as a player may not be picked purely selection reasons, and even if down to fitness a player could argue they are available.
From a players point of view if they have accepted a contract offer, you could see their reasoning to keep taking the money, and seen as not their fault.
But at some stage it's clear a player isn't in contention.
I see some clubs in a situation where then it's announced a mutual agreement to part ways, but I imagine that is when a club pays a lump sum portion of a contract to get them off the books, but then you have to fork out a large lump sum even if it's less than what the weekly amount would be for the rest of the season.
