A Hampton performance so dire that manager, Gary McCann, was scathing about the team’s performance. St Albans were in charge in the first half as chances went begging. David Moyo really should have had a hat-trick with two headers and an overhead kick which on any other day would have put Hampton well behind. The visitors started off the second half in the same dominant vein, Da Costa laid the ball off to Zane Banton who smashed the ball past Lovelock for a lead that City weren’t to give up. It took until the 65th minute for Hampton to register its first shot on goal, a free-kick from Whichelow, dealt with comfortably by Dean Snedker. City should have had a second goal when Da Costa hit a looping shot that had Lovelock scrambling across his goal.
