Hampton recorded an excellent win over Brentford’s Capital League side, containing a number of players with League experience. Brentford’s keeper Ashley Bayes kept the Bees in the contest with a number of first half saves. Hook got into the action as well, denying Marcus Gayle in the 38th minute. Kuhne had the home side’s best chance soon after, a long clearance by Hook was missed by the Brentford defence, but Bayes denied the striker a goal. The second half seemed to be going Brentford’s way but somehow Hampton hung in there. With extra time looming Hampton took the lead with four minutes left. Cheshire won the ball in midfield and found Bere in space, Gill was supporting down the left and when the ball came to him, he struck his shot across the path of the oncoming Bayes. Hampton would meet Chelsea in the final at Beveree, losing 2-1.
