Hampton (League Champions) and Kingstonian (League Cup Winners) contested the Isthmian League’s Charity Shield.
Ryan Moss had an opportunity to put Kingstonian ahead in the 5th minute but a combination of Gasson and Bishop kept him at bay. Akpele forced a save from Tolfrey in the 11th minute, however in the 23rd minute Akpele’s mishit cross was volleyed home by Kabamba. In the 50th minute, Akpele, was again involved forcing Tolfrey to save at his near post. Odametey set up Jolley with a chance but the shot just went the wrong side of the post. Ks should have equalised through Joe Turner but his header went straight to Bishop. A foul on Lowe led to a penalty but Tolfrey saved Lowe’s attempt down at his left side. Hampton held on to the win, Gasson and kitman James Glassup hoisting up the huge shield, aloft.

There are several players in these lineups that played for both teams. Some pretty good players in that game!
