Having lost their previous two games to Willesden Hawkey in two cup competitions, the Middlesex Senior and Middlesex Charity Cups, it was important for the team to show some improvement. The Beavers were boosted by the return of Ewing to the side. Ewing took just seven minutes to mark his first appearance of the season with a goal. Ewing, the club’s leading scorer from the previous season, gave the Beavers an early lead after excellent work by Cheshire and Reed. However, Hampton’s defensive frailties led to an equaliser by Kevin Quinn. Hampton had plenty of chances to restore their lead, Reed had a goal disallowed and Harper fired over from a good position. Ewing looked the likelier to score again but Uxbridge’s keeper Mick Simmons denied him with an excellent save from the Hampton striker’s free-kick. An entertaining game that left the Beavers in mid-table, well adrift of the promotion places.
