Re: Club Statement 03/05/24
The thing that still grates me about the takeover, is that if the club needed investment, why not put it out in the public domain and encourage multiple options of who could come in to invest. It came across as all eggs in one basket, when there may well have been other parties interested. Even peo...

Re: Those Were The Days; 15th May 1998
Les, was this the game in which Dean Green played against us? He had a good game and was signed shortly afterwards. Yes Dean Green was playing for them. We didn't sign him until the start of the 2000/01 season, from Dulwich Hamlet. Debut, 16/09/2000 Ah right, yes of course. Memory playing tricks.

Yes, me too. Clearly a move for the money as he should be playing at least 2 divisions higher.EastTerracer wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 5:06 pm I'm quite surprised Desbois has not got a move to a higher level.

New Manager
Thought this deserved a thread of its own...for those who haven't seen yet, it's Alan Julian. Pleased with that. A good guy, local, knows the club, highly experienced, must have a lot of contacts and can bring some stability. Although he's clearly changed his mind from a video clip earlier this year...

Re: Club Statement 03/05/24
I never really understand why these things can't just be announced. Why does it have to be so cryptic? Is it something about building up social media anticipation?EastTerracer wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 10:18 am Latest club social media postings suggest the manager position is filled.

Re: Club Statement 03/05/24
I really hope Sam does apply. Decent bloke, excellent coach and highly regarded by those in the game. We really could do a lot worse, given that there are so many clowns amongst the potential candidates. I wouldn't want someone who's just on the usual tired old list of managerial merry go round susp...

Re: Club Statement 03/05/24
Chief of this, that and the other are probably now being removed from their roles..it was a nonsense. The club naturally pulls in crowds of 400-700 and that is being generous. It was never a candidate for the EFL . If they managed a promotion to the National League last season it may have kept the ...

Re: Club Statement 03/05/24
How about Steve Bates? Maybe he should be given a chance. He knows the club inside out. Another Harper. It's not enough to know the club inside out though. You need loads of contacts, at both this level and in the football league lower divisions too. Harper actually occurred to me earlier because h...

Re: Club Statement 03/05/24
I wonder if Jimmy Bullard could be a contender? He did an interview online for the club two months ago and has been back recently filming his new podcast at the ground (with Fenners from Soccer AM) I hope not. He failed to set the world alight at Leatherhead. We need to see the logical, sensible ap...

Re: Club Statement 03/05/24
Hmmm. On that note, wasn't Sam Cox supposed to have been in Ted Lasso as an extra? That probably seals it... Are you suggesting that he might be appointed? [/quote] No, not at all, no inside info or anything, although he's done a great job at Wealdstone and knows the level well. We could do a lot w...
